Tension in Novotroitske: Warring sides keep close watch over Ukrainian town near Donetsk

The eastern Ukrainian town of Novotroitske is surrounded by checkpoints which are manned by government forces on one side and combined Russian-separatist forces on the other. Before the start of the holiday ceasefire, during night-time sporadic firing had been exchanged between the two sides; the town’s population of 5000 has dwindled to several hundred.
